School Wait Lists & Overloads

While our goal is to enroll in the home school, placement in the home school is not guaranteed due to overcrowding at some of our Elementary schools. As needed, students are placed on a wait list at their home school in the order of enrollment date and time, and are overloaded to another elementary school in their attendance area with available space. If there is no space available for an overloaded student within their attendance area, the student is overloaded to the nearest elementary school outside of the attendance area with available space. Parents are notified once space becomes available for the student to return to their home school.

Wait list for Schools who Participate in Kindergarten Lottery

A Kindergarten Lottery is held when more students are enrolled than available space.  If your school site participates in a Kindergarten Lottery, a gathering of school site personnel, parent, and district representatives witness all names drawn to create the Kindergarten class roster and waitlist.  Students who enroll after students who participate in a Kindergarten Lottery are enrolled by date and time of registration. To be eligible for a Kindergarten lottery, parents/guardians must complete enrollment between the Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten priority enrollment period.

If the parent gives the school the wrong address or fails to notify the school of a change in address, the school will transfer the child to the correct school within 5 school days. If you move, it may be possible to have your child continue at his/her current school if the school has space and you apply for a transfer. Be sure to notify the school if you move.
