All students are expected to report to school on the first day, Wednesday, August 30, 2017. Students who have not attended the first two days of school will be dropped at the end of the third day of school. Students who are dropped will not be guaranteed a seat at the school and may have to be overloaded to other schools upon return. The only exceptions will be students who are absent due to illness. If a student is absent the first three days due to illness, parents or guardians must notify the school every day the student is absent. Seats will not be held for students on extended vacations or other optional activities, whether or not the school is notified.

Elementary Parent Homework Survey

The Curriculum and Instruction Advisory Committee has been reviewing Fremont Unified’s homework policy. We have looked at research based documents as they pertain to homework and would like parent feedback regarding this topic. Please complete this survey by April 13th which will help us continue to gather information.

Fremont Unified School District is now accepting donations online!

Donations to a school, program, or the district may now conveniently be made online using a credit/debit card or eCheck. Donors may either log into their MySchoolBucks account or go to www.fremont.k12.ca.us; click Select a School (at the top of the page); select the school of their choice; and click the box labeled, DONATE TO YOUR SCHOOL.

Donors have an option to create an account to assist with future donations or donate as a guest. Donations that are received online reduce the amount of cash and checks handled by teachers and office staff.

Basketball Season Ends:

Mission Valley Tournament was held on March 3rd and 4th.  Going into the tournament MSJE boys were seeded one and the girls were two. Both teams took care of business in their opening games. The boys dominated Gomes throughout the game on both ends of the court. The girls fought back to tie the game with Gomes at the final buzzer to send the game into overtime. In overtime, the girls continued their inspired play and pulled away from Gomes. On Championship Saturday, both teams battled to the end before falling to Chadbourne.

2017-18 School Year:

Beginning Monday, April 10th parents will be able to pick up a questionnaire in the office that will enable you to give us information about the educational needs of your child.  Please be reminded that if you put any specific teacher’s name or room number on the paper as a request for your child’s teacher for next year, the form will be discarded.  Your child’s teacher this year is quite familiar with the educational needs of your child, as you can see from the report card.  Please trust the judgment of the staff as we work to put balanced and fair classrooms together for next year.  All forms are due to the office by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28th.  No exceptions.

Community Meeting with United States Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR) –

Tuesday, April 11, 2017 @ 6:00 to 7:00 pm

Fremont Unified School District Office

4210 Technology Drive

Professional Development Center

On January 11, 2017, the Fremont Unified School District entered into a Resolution Agreement with the United States Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights (OCR).  The agreement resulted from a 2013 Compliance Review by OCR to assess whether students who are Sikh, Middle Eastern, or who are perceived as such, are subjected to harassment on the basis of their actual or perceived shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics, and whether the District has responded appropriately to notice of such harassment.

As part of the Resolution Agreement, a community meeting has been scheduled in conjunction with OCR to discuss the District’s commitments under the agreement.

The diverse population of Fremont provides unique opportunities for students and staff to embrace the rich cultural heritage of our community.  The Resolution Agreement outlines a roadmap of actions that will strengthen the District's response to incidents of harassment based on race, color, or national origin. You’re invited to attend this community meeting to learn about OCR and the District's commitment to creating safe and welcoming learning environments for all students.

You’re invited to attend this community meeting to learn about OCR and the District's commitment to creating safe and welcoming learning environments for all students.  Please kindly note that the meeting is by invitation only.

Tdap for Students Entering 7th grade

All students entering the 7th grade in the 2017/2018 school year must receive a Tdap (Pertussis/ Whooping Cough) booster shot before entering school in August 2017.

Proof of the vaccine must include:  Student’s name, date of birth, vaccine name, date vaccine administered and name of the clinic, office, or doctor administering the vaccine.

We highly encourage you to have your student receive the TDAP vaccine now and to bring proof to your student’s current school office as soon as possible.  This will prevent delaying registration and selection of courses for 7th grade.

Volunteers Needed for MPR Community Mosaic Mural

For those of you who don’t know who I am, my name is Kathleen Martin, retired MSJE teacher (2015).  Over six years ago, Principal Graves gave me the go ahead to begin the process of building, designing, and supervising the construction of the Community MPR Mosaic Murals.  The current murals were designed and constructed by students and volunteer parents from MSJE.

The newest mosaic mural panel (located next to the Safety Patrol Room) will represent the PreK, Kindergarten, and First Grades.  The mural designs come from a preschool in Krakow, Czech Republic, and an elementary school in Springfield, Missouri.

Even if you only have an hour that you can volunteer to work on the mural, your help will be welcomed!

  • What:  Volunteers needed to work on the MPR mosaic mural
  • When:  Beginning on March 7th, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
  • Time:  8:30 am to 3:00 pm

Contact:  Kathleen Martin at kmcabe1@comcast.net for more information or to sign up.

Remember to read the Announcements and Headlines on the web page too.  Additional information is posted there as it comes up on a day to day basis.
