California School Dashboard

Beginning in mid-March, the California Department of Education is field testing a new website designed to help families’ access important information about K–12 districts and schools. Called the California School Dashboard, the site features easy-to-read reports on multiple measures of school success, including test scores, graduation rates, English Learner progress and suspension rates. The Dashboard is part of California's new school accountability system. It is the next step in a series of major shifts in public education that have raised the bar for student learning, transformed testing and placed the focus on equity for all students. To learn more about California's accountability and continuous improvement efforts, visit the CDE Dashboard Web page or the district website at   http://www.fremont.k12.ca.us/Page/32350.

Tdap for students Entering 7th grade

All students entering the 7th grade in the 2017/2018 school year must receive a Tdap (Pertussis/ Whooping Cough) booster shot before entering school in August 2017.

Proof of the vaccine must include:  Student’s name, date of birth, vaccine name, date vaccine administered and name of the clinic, office, or doctor administering the vaccine.

We highly encourage you to have your student receive the TDAP vaccine now and to bring proof to your student’s current school office as soon as possible.  This will prevent delaying registration and selection of courses for 7th grade.

Volunteers Needed for MPR Community Mosaic Mural

For those of you who don’t know who I am, my name is Kathleen Martin, retired MSJE teacher (2015).  Over six years ago, Principal Graves gave me the go ahead to begin the process of building, designing, and

supervising the construction of the Community MPR Mosaic Murals.  The current murals were designed and

constructed by students and volunteer parents from MSJE.

The newest mosaic mural panel (located next to the Safety Patrol Room) will represent the PreK, Kindergarten, and First Grades.  The mural designs come from a preschool in Krakow, Czech Republic, and an elementary school in Springfield, Missouri.

Even if you only have an hour that you can volunteer to work on the mural, your help will be welcomed!

What:  Volunteers needed to work on the MPR mosaic mural

When:  Beginning on March 7th, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday

Time:  8:30 am to 3:00 pm

Contact:  Kathleen Martin at kmcabe1@comcast.net for more information or to sign up.

Change of Address/Residency:

Please be reminded that it is the responsibility of parents under Board Policy 5111 to notify the school office within five (5) days if they move in or out of the attendance area.  Any move within the attendance area still requires four (4) new proofs of residency to verify the new address.  Failure to do so will result in revocation of the student’s placement at the school.

March 1, 2017

Dear Parent/Guardian

On February 8th, the FUSD Board of Education adopted a Student Safety Resolution stating that all Fremont students are entitled to a public education, regardless of their parents’ actual or perceived national origin, citizenship, or immigration status.

This resolution re-affirms the Fremont Unified School District’s Stance against discrimination, bullying and harassment in and out of the classroom. Fremont Unified is committed to the success of all students, irrespective of their ability, beliefs, ethnicity, gender identification, immigration status, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status. A copy of the Resolution is available at http://bit.ly/FUSDStudentSafety.

Every student has the right to attend school in a safe and secure environment. Our district, schools and community have an obligation to promote a mutual respect that supports dignity and equality. To that end, Fremont Unified has policies, procedures and practices in place that are designed to reduce and eliminate discrimination and harassment, as well as to quickly address incidents when they occur.

I encourage any student who believes they have been subjected to any form of harassment, including acts based on race, color, or national origin, by District staff, students, or a third-party, to contact a school administrator. All reports will be taken very seriously and investigated thoroughly.

By working together to respect and embrace the diversity that makes Fremont such a unique and special community, every student will receive the educational opportunity they deserve.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jim Morris

Superintendent

On behalf of Students,

Principal Graves
